Eclipse iSpec AMM/AIPC Release

This Arbortext based application enables users to create complete ISpec 2200 AMM and AIPC publications. Authoring can be broken down into small parts which are then brought together at the output process. The two types of publication are complementary which is why this application incorporated both. As with all Mekon Aerospace and Defence application this release of the AMM/AIPC provides iSpec2200 compliant output in SGML, PDF and Print.

Aircraft Maintenance Manual

The application allows the user to generate a complete Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM) publication in modular form with individual preferences for the size of the module. This is achieved by utilising the Arbortext File Entity Tools. A typical AMM structure allows for the generation of Chapters, Sections, Subjects and PageBlocks and these can be authored as required.

Typically PageBlocks are created and then the content of the over-arching higher AMM elements is created using the File Entity Tools although the exact breakdown of files is a user choice.

The various ‘extra’ files required by AMM’s are automatically generated on demand. Thus the Eclipse iSpec AMM/AIPC application will create the List of Chapters at the front of the publication and each chapter’s Table of Contents.

This application does not retain earlier revision information which can be removed automatically. Current revisions are indicated by the normal use of the revision start and end elements and by the various attributes included in the DTD for that purpose.

The size of the AMM can vary considerably depending on the size and complexity of the aircraft being documented. The processing time depends on both the size of the publication and the specification of the computer. Smaller AMM publications may well be produced on a well specified Desktop or even Laptop computer. Larger AMM publications may require the user of a server based application such as the Arbortext Publishing Engine (PE).

Aircraft Illustrated Parts Catalogue

The Aircraft Illustrated Parts Catalogue (AIPC) part of the application is used to create the complete parts list for the aircraft. It is recognised that creating these parts list can be a time consuming activity and therefore Mekon have provided a simple tool to enable the user to import the contents of a spreadsheet into the application. The structure of the spreadsheet is very much like that of the parts lists to be produced. Importing the parts information by this method creates marked up data which can then easily be pasted into the relevant document using tools provide in Arbortext.

User Guide and Data Sheet

A comprehensive User Guide is provided which describes the various features and use of the AMM and AIPC parts of the application.

A data sheet showing the various features of the application can be downloaded using this link.
